Get organized

Securely save all your files in a central location and access them from anywhere. Review your Print History, view all the slices you've made, reprint, assign files to queues. Admins can create shared file folders that allow groups to share design, print files and even add notes.

Monitor your printer farm

Check the status of all your printers from one interface. Set time-lapses and monitor your prints via live video. You can even cancel prints remotely if they are failing.

Schedule your print jobs

With the Printer Queues app you can get all of your objects ready to print and assign them to the next available printer. Admins can create Group Queues which allow users to send files to a shared queue. Once in the shared queue, admins can manage the printing process.

Make smarter decisions

AstroPrint’s analytics empower you to make better decisions and to grow your 3D Printing business. Easy-to-understand metrics give you the tools you need to justify the budget, and expansion, of your 3D printer fleet.

Save thousands on equipment

Mix and match inexpensive desktop 3D printer brands and models. Plug-in an AstroBox to make your existing printers smart or buy 3D printers that come with AstroPrint software already embedded.

Meet the sanitary standards

Make your 3D printer farm safe for everyone that uses it. Controlling your printers remotely is the way to go to reduce contacts among personnel, making your 3D printer lab social-distancing compliant.

Achieve more in a smaller space

Using AstroPrint allows you to have more printers in a smaller space. No more pesky cables or SD cards. Manage your entire 3D Printer Fleet wirelessly from any device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect one AstroBox to multiple 3D printers?

No. You will need one AstroBox for each 3D Printer in your fleet. Attempting to run multiple 3D Printers off of a single AstroBox (i.e. Raspberry Pi Board) would likely result in failed prints due to hardware limitations of the board. (For example, GCODE stuttering.) At minimum, video streaming would be seriously affected.

Which slicing engines do you support for Cloud Slicing?

The AstroPrint platform is built with a modular Cloud Slicing system. This means that slicing jobs will be routed through the Slicing Engine you recommend for your printer(s).

Currently, we can route slicing jobs through:

  • Cura Engine
  • Slic3r, Prusa Edition
  • Others

How expensive is the hardware to set up a full Printer Farm?

For technical reasons, each 3D Printer you connect to the AstroPrint platform will need to have an AstroBox connected to the printer. This is what allows the printer's data/images/status/etc to be accessible through your AstroPrint account (via web portal, mobile app, desktop software, etc). At first, it may seem like this would be very expensive, but there are ways to do this efficiently and cheaply.

You have two options for hardware. The AstroBox Touch (ABT) or the AstroBox Gateway (ABG).

  • AstroBox Touch (ABT) - Purchase
  • AstroBox Touch (ABT) - DIY
  • AstroBox Gateway (ABG)
  • Honorable Mention - OctoPrint Plugin

Please note: Due to limitations in OctoPrint there are some features that will likely never be available, such as out-of-network video streaming.
